Abstract

Education is included as one of the planned efforts to optimize human skills according to their abilities. Efforts are made by individuals consciously and planned to realize an effective learning process with the aim of educating students in developing their potential. Problems in education are a top priority that must be solved, one of which concerns the problem of the quality of education. The quality of education is currently experiencing challenges as a result of the outbreak of the Covid-19 virus. At the beginning of 2020 the world was shocked by the emergence of the Covid-19 outbreak that spread to all corners of the world, including Indonesia. Educational institutions in Indonesia are very affected by this outbreak. Schools need to adapt to new habits, namely the distance learning system. With the outbreak of this virus, it is necessary for other educational institutions to use online learning methods without exception, with the aim that the learning process continues even though it must be done at home. The purpose of this study is to describe the use of Multimodal Teachers through Blended Learning at SDN Jombok 2 Jombang and students' use of Multimodal through Blended Learning at SDN Jombok 2 Jombang. In accordance with these characteristics, the research approach used in this research is qualitative research. This study emphasizes the use of multimodal through blended learning which aims to describe the speech of teachers and students through verbal (lingual language) and non-verbal (hand gestures) when interacting in blended learning. Methods of collecting data in this study were recording, observation, and interviews. The stages of data analysis in this study went through three stages, including: (1) data reduction, (2) data presentation, and (3) conclusion/verification. The results of using multimodal through Blended Learning at SDN Jombok 2 Jombang are multimodal teachers in directive actions in the form of orders, including: (1) movement of the fist object, (2) representative hand movement of writing activities, (3) representative hand gesture of raising a hand, ( 4) representative hand gestures, and (5) representative hand gestures pointing.
