Abstract

Linguistics is the science of language or the science that makes language the object of its study. Sociolinguistics is an interdisciplinary science between sociology and linguistics, two fields of empirical science that are closely related. This study aims to determine: (1) the forms of code mixing in Raditya Dika's collection of Koala Kumal short stories, (2) The causes of code mixing contained in Raditya Dika's collection of Koala Kumal short stories, (3) code mixing functions in a collection of short stories. Koala Kumal by Raditya Dika. This research is a qualitative descriptive research. The data source in this study is a book collection of short stories by Raditya Dika, entitled "Koala Kumal". The data collection technique used in this study was document analysis. Triangulation is the most commonly used method for increasing data validity in qualitative research. The data analysis process in this study used a flow model of analysis. The research procedure is the steps the researcher takes throughout the research process. The research results are as follows. First, the form of code mixing in Raditya Dika's collection of Koala Kumal short stories is seen from a dialogue quote. Second, the cause of code mixing in the short story collection Koala Kumal by Raditya Dika when two languages ​​experience contact which is used by bilinguals with a balanced level of language mastery. Third, the code mixing function in the collection of short stories Koala Kumal by Raditya Dika is to explain, describe, ask, and emphasize the point.
