Abstract

21st century learning cannot be separated from the variations in the learning model applied.the use of learning models is very influential in deveoping higher order thinking skills, including critical thinking skills of biology education students at IKIP Budi Utomo Malang. In general, the use of models in the lecture process at IKIP Budi Utomo Malang is less applied so that it does not train students to think critically in understanding a concept of the material that has been presented. One of the learning models that have been edited can develop critical thinking skills of bioogy education students at IKIP Budi Utomo Malang, namely by using instruction-based learning models and problem solving in a digital book that is presented. This study aims to determine the profie of critical thinking skills of biology education students of IKIP Budi Utomo Malang, with 1 class as a sample this research study was conducted for one semester by providing problem solving based learning media presented in the form of digital books. The result of the study of all aspects of critical thinking skills (ennis vertion), which were measured, namely the ability of education, induction, credibility, observation, and assumption experienced a good increase.
