Abstract

One of the alternative learning resources that can be used as a solution to these problems is compiling modules that suit the needs of students.  Besides being interesting, the modules applied can be combined with learning models that can further motivate students.  One of these models is problem solving.  The objectives of this study are, (1) analysis of the need for the development of problem solving-based biology modules on human digestive materials for grade VIII students of SMP Negeri 3 Kodi, and (2) development of problem solving-based biology modules on human digestive materials for grade VIII students of State Junior High Schools.  3 Kodi that meet the criteria are valid, practical and effective. This research method is research and development (Research and Development).  The development model used in this research is the Thiagarajan 4D model, which consists of define, design, and develop stages.  This research is limited to the develop stage and ends in the validation activities of material experts and media experts.  The research instrument used was a needs analysis questionnaire and a validation questionnaire of experts.  The data collection technique was by distributing needs analysis questionnaires to biology teachers and validation questionnaires to material experts and media experts.  Data analysis technique with qualitative descriptive. The aims of this study were: (1) to determine the feasibility of developing a problem solving-based module on the human digestive system material for class VIII students of SMP Negeri 3 Kodi (2) to describe the development of a learning module on the biology of the digestive system in humans for class VIII students of SMP Negeri 3 Kodi.  to determine the ability of class VIII students of SMP Negeri 3 Kodi. The results showed, (1) The results of the validation by the expert obtained a score of 62.5% included in the category worth developing after going through revisions or improvements.  (2) In the practical aspect of problem solving-based modules, the overall average percentage of student response data is 3.4 or 85.9%.  Based on the criteria that have been set, the student's response to the problem solving-based module developed is in the positive response criteria and the problem solving-based module developed is also included in the high practicality criteria.  (3) On the aspect of effectiveness, problem solving-based modules meet the criteria of being effective because seen from the results of the student's material mastery test at the time of product distribution, the results of the student's mastery of the material show that as many as 20 of 23 students or 86.9%.
