Abstract

This study aims to explain in detail how the obstacles experienced by class VIII students in learning during the Covid-19 pandemic. This study uses a qualitative approach. Because this study explains the phenomena that occur in the field by collecting data obtained from research informants. The data collection technique used in this research is interview, where the researcher conducts direct interviews with research informants, by means of question and answer while face to face between interviewers and research informants. The type of interview used is an unstructured interview. Documentation is a way of collecting data that produces important notes related to the problem under study, so that complete, valid and not based on estimates will be obtained.

The results of the study found by researchers were the obstacles experienced by students, namely the lack of a network, the ability of parents to be categorized as economically weak, only some students who had smartphones, and the absence of electricity facilities. Concrete steps taken by educational institutions are, continue to carry out the process of teaching and learning activities but by having to follow the health protocol that has been made by the government. This research is expected to be an evaluation of various parties in conducting online learning in junior high schools, especially those involving obstacles in them, this research is also expected to be a study material for other researchers in analyzing and knowing student learning barriers in online learning during an emergency in high school first.
