Analisis Kesalahan Siswa dalam Menyelesaikan Soal Cerita Ditinjau dari Gaya Kognitif pada Siswa Kelas VII

Abstract

This study aims to describe the types of errors and the factors that cause students to make mistakes in solving story problems based on their respective cognitive styles. This type of research is descriptive qualitative. The subjects in this study were students of class VII-A of SMP N 3 Rote Barat which consisted of 4 students. The technique of determining the research subject is to give a GEFT test to all students in grades VII-A to select 2 students in the field dependent cognitive style category and 2 students with field independent cognitive style. The procedure of this research is preparation, implementation and analysis. The instruments in this study were the GEFT test, story questions and interviews. This study refers to 4 errors in solving story problems, namely fact errors, operational errors, conceptual errors and principle errors. The results showed that students with field independent cognitive style tended to make factual errors and operational errors, while students with field dependent cognitive styles tended to make factual errors and operational errors.
