Abstract

 

The emergence of the universal era requires people to be skilled at absorbing and digesting information that flows rapidly. Therefore, the ability to read a high understanding is important for everyone. In reading comprehension, there is a process of understanding the meaning contained in a reading in a detailed, complete, and comprehensive manner, besides that someone is not only active thinking but to a higher level, namely  critically and creatively thinking so as to be able to create. SQRACT strategy based HOTS  is a learning strategy based on scientific learning steps that explore a person's cognitive abilities to the highest realm, namely creating. This study aims to describe learning reading comprehension of scientific discourse using SQRACT strategy based HOTS  for class X high school students. The design of this study was a 2x2 factorial design, this design was used to examine the main effect of using SQRACT strategy based HOTS on reading comprehension of scientific discourse. The results of the research findings were differences in learning outcomes read significant understanding of scientific discourse between the control group that did not use the SQRACT strategy based HOTS and the experimental group who used the SQRACT strategy based HOTS. This is indicated by a significance value of 0.009 <0.05.
