Abstract

This paper discusses the value of speech contained in the ritual hodi ura woi (asking for and picking up rainwater) of the village community ohe kolontobo district ile ape lembata district of east Nusa Tenggara. Qualitative descriptive research. The research objectives to be achieved are in general and specifically. Describing the value of speech, Describing the form of speech, Describing the function of speech, Describing the meaning of speech contained in the ritual Hodi Ura Woi (asking for and picking up rainwater) of the village community Ohe Kolontobo District Ile Ape Lembata Regency. The data collection techniques used are primary data and secondary data. The results showed that 1. The First Ritual Stage Asks for Blessing (mountainous area). 2. Second Ritual of Moti Tobi Puke Bao Langun (ritual area under an acid tree on the outskirts of the village) 3. Pau Nuba and Paha Tobi Lebe Luba (requests to bring and ask for rain). Of these three rituals is the stage where the atamolan (shaman, person who has kahrisma) performs rituals to invite ancestors and give offerings to spirits and ancestors.
