Abstract

This study aims to determine the application of the Flipped Classroom model to Improve Poetry Writing Skills in grade VII students of SMPN 5 Kodi and. Qualitative and quantitative research methods Classroom action research design This classroom action research was conducted in two cycles of four meetings. Each cycle consists of four stages, namely the Planning Phase, the Implementation Phase, and the Reflection Phase. The population in this study were all grade VIII students of SMPN 5 Kodi in 2021/2022. Based on the sampling technique above, there are 2 classes, one class as an experimental class that uses the Flipped Classroom learning model, and one class as a control class that will use a conventional learning model. Data collection techniques in this study were carried out through observation, interviews, documentation and tests. The research instrument used in this study was a test instrument. Data analysis techniques in this study were carried out in two ways, namely quantitative and qualitative. The results of the research obtained that there are differences in the ability to write poetry of students who are given the application of Flipped Classroom learning model with conventional learning. Based on the results of the N-Gain data processing, it can be concluded that the improvement of students' poetry writing comprehension skills by learning the Flipped Classroom model is better than the conventional learning model.
