Gender, Barriers to Sport Partisipation and Physical Activity of Indonesia Junior High School Students

Abstract

: Consistent physical activity has become an effective solution for minimizing health expenditures. The aim of this research is to generate knowledge about barriers to participating in sports and physical activity based on gender of junior high school students in Indonesia. The method used in this research is comparative correlational. The data used was obtained from the MPO IKIP Budi Utomo Malang data center. The number of respondents in this study was 846 respondents. To test the hypothesis, researchers used the following techniques: descriptive analysis, single average test, difference test between two means, and correlation test. It was concluded that barriers to participation in sports have met tolerance limits, physical activity does not meet the eligibility criteria, there are no differences in barriers to participation in sports based on gender, and there is a relationship between barriers to participation in sports and physical activity.
