Abstract

Education has a very important role in determining the progress and development of a nation. Through education, the younger generation can gain knowledge, skills and life values that will guide them in facing the challenges of world progress in the future. Talking about education certainly cannot be separated from the role of a teacher. This article uses the method used is a literature study, namely a review of related literature while the purpose of writing this article is to find out how the role of teachers in formal and non-formal education in community life. Based on the Law on the National Education system number 20 of 2003, teachers have three roles, namely roles in formal education, roles in non-formal education and roles in informal education. The role of teachers in formal education is the teacher as a learning resource, teacher as a facilitator, teacher as a manager, teacher as a demonstrator, teacher as a demonstrator, teacher as a motivator, and teacher as an evaluator. In non-formal education teachers can play many roles, namely roles in learning groups and organizations in the community. These roles are divided into two forms, namely manifest and latent forms.
